Philosophy

WCDC's philosophy is “Children learn what they live.”While providing opportunities for each child to be a unique individual, we are sensitive to his or her social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs.

Our programs are designed to develop children's feelings of independence and responsibility. WCDC provides consistent, age-appropriate curriculum, and positive methods of discipline. We welcome parents as essential elements in our formula for a well-rounded educational experience. Working together, we will provide the best child developmental and educational services in our community.

Introduction / History

In December 1986, WCDC's owners, Suzanne Wittersheim and Einar and Vikki Hansen, successfully established

Woodlake Child Development Center, Inc. We opened our doors with 12 students, and have worked together to provide the highest level of child care possible. In 1990, with the rapid growth of the surrounding communities, we opened Phase II. This added 5,000 square feet; which included 3 new classrooms, more playground space, and a “ball” room. In January 1994, we purchased 7.75 acres adjacent to our building, and began constructing the Woodlake Youth Center and sports complex for our school-aged students. In a year, our dream was realized, and we had 5 new classrooms, a gym, and four additional acres that included playgrounds and a sports field for soccer and baseball.

We are currently serving approximately 400 families from surrounding communities.
